It is a walking tour that you can participate.

Background of the project

One of the Kumano Kodo routes, "Oheji", refers to a section of about 120 km along the sea to Tanabe City and Nachikatsuuracho, Wakayama Prefecture. Located on the route, this hotel is located in Kushimoto, the southernmost town of Honshu, and many guests are staying for the purpose of strolling through Kumano Kodo.

In addition to those who aim to traverse the Kumano Kodo in earnest and those who have walked the Kumano Kodo many times, `` I am interested in Kumano Kodo but too vast, and the historical background is deep and difficult to challenge '' In response to the voice of the customer, we hope that you can enjoy a part of the Oheji route with a unique local guide and enjoy it with a casual walk feeling. We planned this tour.

Points of this tour

■This is a route that is easy for beginners to challenge, and touches a part of the history of Kumano Kodo.

Oheji, which is about 120 km in length, leads to Nachi Katsuura, is a route where you can enjoy the open scenery where the sea and nature of the Kii Peninsula spread out in front of you. In recent years, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has set up a walking environment and has revived it as a modern pilgrimage road (*1), so it is easy for beginners to walk. You can enjoy a leisurely stroll while listening to the explanation of the local guide.

■A superb view spot that condenses “Kushimoto uniqueness” and burns the magnificent nature to your eyes.

The observatory, which is quietly located on the route of Kumano Kodo and Oheji, is a hidden spot known to those who know it.

From the place slightly up the path, the magnificent Pacific Ocean, from the coast to Kii Oshima, a strange rock group, Hashikui-iwa Rock, which extends for about 850m, and Kushimoto-ohashi Bridge, can be enjoyed in a panoramic view of Kushimoto.

■A natural monument, Hashikui-iwa Rock, known by local guide commentary

Not only do you look at the Hashikui-iwa Rock seen below from the observatory, but also think about the greatness and wonder of nature while listening to the formation of about 40 large and small strange rocks and the legends related to Kobo Daishi by the guide. Why not?

For those who want to feel closer to the sea of Hashikui-iwa Rock and Kushimoto, we also have an accommodation plan to make original photo frames using a guide commentary on Hashikui-iwa Rock, beach combing, art pieces such as shells and driftwood found in beach combing.
